TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Jackson State Tigers claimed the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship title in spectacular fashion on Monday morning.
Jackson State placed three runners in the top five of the event paced by Tyler Duncan who finished the meet in first place with a time of 25:39.9.
JSU’s Jallah Galimah claimed second place (25:47.1) while fellow teammate Marquentin Barnes finished in fourth place (26:01.9).
This marked the Tigers second consecutive championship title while also marking the third title for Jackson State in the past five seasons.
Jackson State (1st), Texas Southern (2nd), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3rd), Bethune-Cookman (4th), and Southern (5th) round out the list of top five team finishes at the event.
For his efforts Jackson State’s Duncan was tabbed the 2022 SWAC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Year while JSU head coach Mark Thorne was named Coach of the Year.
